Watchmen of Asteri, Book One
Description
Vela has lived on the sea for most of her life and now she is in the special forces of her medieval country, serving on the ships that patrol the coast of Asteri. The League of Watchmen protect Asteri with their lives from any danger that might appear.
The eighteen-year-old young woman loved her job, but her life was turned upside down when an unexpected letter turned up from her commanding officer. The letter stated that he had seen some potential in her and wanted her to train somewhere else to further her skills. Knowing hardly anything of life on land, Vela starts traveling to the command center where she will get reassigned. On her way there, the young apprentice meets another Watchman named Wurren who was sent to escort her to the command center. Wurren teaches her a few new things like how to ride a horse and how to travel on land.
When they reach the command center, Vela meets Commodore Louris and he informs her that she will be headed to the eastern side of Asteri to learn from the best team which is led by Wurren himself. Wurren, upon hearing this news, immediately gives Vela the cold shoulder and barely speaks to her for the rest of their several day journey. Vela’s teammates are anything but welcoming and she struggles to understand what she ever did to them. She soon learns that they had an unfortunate incident which had left them all scarred deeply.
Still trying to earn their trust and respect, Vela trains hard and tries to fit in. But her training is interrupted by Wurren being captured and dragged off to their neighboring country of Mevol.
Will they be able to reach Wurren before he is put in a work camp or worse? Can the team learn to accept Vela as one of their own and work together or will they fall apart?
